2008 Student Caring Awards The Volunteer Bureau of Leeds & Grenville is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Caring Awards for Student Volunteering. These awards recognize exceptional student volunteers in Leeds & Grenville who demonstrate good citizenship and a willingness to better their community by modeling caring, integrity, fairness, respect and empathy. Though volunteers are appreciated on a daily basis, it’s still important to take the time to recognize efforts by nominating exceptional student volunteers for such an award. Nominations can be for any full time student within one of the four categories (K-6, 7-9, 10-12, university or college, and adult learners in a degree, diploma or certificate program) whose volunteer service has occurred in Leeds and Grenville. Activities performed as part of the mandated 40 hours of community involvement should not be submitted. The award recipient in each grade category will be recognized at an awards ceremony during National Volunteer Week and on the Volunteer Bureau’s website. Selection will be based upon extent of volunteer service and volunteer position, as well as recommendation of references and quality of answers. Nomination packages are available at schools in the area, as well as on our website. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 28th @ 4 p.m. Help us recognize student volunteerism, nominate someone today!
“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around” – Leo F. Buscaglia
