Fundraising

The Walk is an open chance to join in an organized event to benefit your own organization.  Challenge members and supporters alike to raise funds, half of which are returned directly to your organization.  funds received at the Walk are tax receipted to any individual who pledges $10 or more.  Receipt are issued from the Volunteer Bureau on behalf of the walker.

Promotion

On the event day, all walkers congregate and register on-site.  The Walk meanders through downtown Brockville.  Wear your colours, chant your slogan, show the community who you are.  The Mayor's Walk is a high profile, public event with full media coverage.

Thank your Volunteers

National Volunteer Week is a Canada-wide celebration to thank our Volunteers. Countless organizations salute their Volunteers during this week-long event.  The Mayor's Walk is a perfect kick-off and offers the opportunity for organizations to piggy-back their event and say "Thank You" to deserving volunteers.

Statistics

Each year the Mayor's Walk has continued to grow with up to 35% net proceeds increase.  We have grossed in excess of $35,000 in a single year, sharing that wealth throughout charities and not-for-profit groups in Leeds and Grenville.

We would be nowhere without the help of our sponsors.  The Mayor's Walk has attracted sponsors who have stayed with us throughout the years.  Sponsors graciously donate funds and goods in direct support of the annual event, helping with everything from logistics to prizes.

The Mayor's Walk is the perfect compliment to the Bureau's mandate to:

• Promote Volunteerism;

• Build Capacity for Effective Local Volunteering;

• Provide Leadership on Issues Relating to Volunteerism; and

• Connect People with Opportunities to Serve
